oasis
I always think how lovely it would be to have a house that backed onto the river. Of course our river floods every few years and I can't imagine the stress of my house being under threat every time the rains are heavy.

City Daily Photo: Statues
It's the first of the month and so that means Theme Day!
This is Buckingham's Concrete Swan... possibly hard to see from the photo but it depicts a swan with its head down feeding in the grasses of the river. You can one of Buckingham's resident swans in the background looking for lazy handouts instead.

Swans
Along the river sits this statue/sculpture which depicts a swan with its head under the water searching through the grasses, etc. I love that it's not your typical swan... what I don't love is that it's usually covered in grafitti and riddled with litter. Note the real swan in the background :)

the river, swollen and muddy
After recent storms the river was running full, fast, and very muddy. Here the river passes under the Hunter Street bridge.

Hunter Street and The River
taken from on top of the old railway bridge.

In this photo you'll see that the river is running full and very muddy due to a few rain storms a few days earlier.

the weir and Hunter Street bridge
Or is it the "flosh" I've heard this particular spot referred to by both terms.

The weir serving Town Mill, and the bridge carrying Hunter Street over the Ouse.
