Brown's of Buckingham

On the High Street... a huge Georgian building houses Brown's. Brown's offers hairdressing, beauty treatments, and all manner of pampering type stuff.

the old cinema

The old Chandos Road Cinema... seen better days. After several battles with youth and their misguided enthusiasm the doors and windows are all boarded. The building has also been home to a Vauxhall dealer. It's an absolute primo location and I'd love to see it occupied again.

What do the Vintners buy?

The signs above Canvas Art Materials read "I often wonder what the Vintners buy... one half so precious as the goods they sell"

Stowe Avenue

Once upon a time this led to the main entrance of Stowe... now it's mainly used as a service road for the property and you take a side road to get to the property. What is Stowe you may ask?

It is an immense and palatial 18th Century house that is home to a very prestigious boarding and day school.

...and it is also home to breathtakingly beautiful landscape gardens operated by the National Trust.

Prezzo

Buckingham's newest Italian restaurant. Quite good food in a fabulous location and in a building dripping with character. All of that being said I did prefer it when it was "the Tudor" Public House and it looked slightly more grimey and rundown!

EDIT:
I found this old photo of the Tudor... taken in Dec of 2004 I believe.

Flea Market

Along with the regular market held on Tuesday & Saturday, a Farmers Market held on the first Tuesday of the month, we also have a Flea Market (Antiques, bric brac, tools, books) that occurs at the site of the old cattle pens every Saturday. I love shopping here and my house is full of finds!

Ceroc Dancers

I'm taking the easy way out for a few weeks and digging into my archive of photos. The truth is just when things started to get under control again I find myself stretched to thin to do everything I want to do.... I will get out again asap and take more of the snaps you guys like the most... until then I hope you'll enjoy a taste of Saturday Market Day in Buckingham.

These dancers are from Ceroc. I was chatting to one of the members and what they do seems like so much fun... wish I could join but there's simply not enough hours in the day. I haven't even been able to get back to camera club since before I left for Ireland.
